Supervision of extractive activities and facilities, including quarries, mines, and natural gas and oil extraction, is carried out in accordance with the Code of Mining and Quarrying Operations (CMQO), Ministerial Decision No. 2223, Government Gazette No. 1227, June 14, 2011.

Depending on the case, continuous or periodic supervision is required by licensed mining engineers or engineers with equivalent specialties.

The supervising engineer is responsible for ensuring proper and safe operations.

For example:

  • Supervising mining, drilling, blasting, and loading operations.
  • Checking the stability of slopes, benches, and mining faces.
  • Providing instructions regarding safety measures for these operations.
  • Monitoring compliance with the terms of the mining permit and the environmental impact assessment (EIA).
  • Conducting regular visits to the quarry and recording his observations in the designated logs.
  • Informing the operator of hazardous situations and required corrective measures.
  • Drafting or reviewing mining plans and technical reports as needed.
