Major Accident Hazard Analysis- SEVESO III

SEVESO III

Major accident hazard analysis, either in the context of the SEVESO III Directive or as a stand-alone study, is a powerful tool that helps understand hazards, determine their likelihood of occurrence as well asimplement all necessary actions to prevent and mitigate consequences.

By demonstrating the area affected by certain levels of thermal radiation, overpressure and toxic dose after a major accident (Consequence Modelling), emergency procedures can be effectively updated whereas the siting of safety critical equipment can be decided in order to maintain integrity and operability. Furthermore, cost-effective and practical solutions can be applied and improve occupied buildings design to ensure the ongoing safety of personnel.

Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA)

A Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) generates individual risk contours, demonstrating in this way the risk to people due to operation of a facility. This method, as itadopts amore probabilistic approach, provides visualisation of the importance of existing measures, helps decide future modifications and implement a proactive risk based inspection regime.
