P&IDs – PFDs

Ergonomia undertakes the review and/or preparation of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (PIDs) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), according to ANSI/ISA 5.1-2009 “Instrumentation Symbols and Identification”. P&IDs are 2D diagrams that depict the pipelines, equipment and instrumentation of a pipeline network.

Legislation Framework

When industrial facilities handle or store flammable substances (e.g Chemical and Oil & Gas industry or facilities with combustible dusts or hybrid mixtures), the elimination of any source of ignition is a major and critical condition for ensuring Safety.

Radiation Protection services

Radiation Protection services provided by Ergonomia concern businesses that lie within the scope of the (Greek) Radiation Protection Regulation (Presidential Decree 101/18, Government’s Gazette 194/Α/20-11-2018), which in paragraph 1 of article 2 requires that (following is a translation from the original text of the PD that is based on the text of Directive 2013/59/Euratom):

Arc Flash Assessment

Arc flash is a dangerous condition associated with the release of huge amount of energy caused by an electrical arc (NFPA 70E - the relevant standard from the National Fire Protection Association)

The escalation of an Arc Flash incident comes out as an Arc Blast

Arcs can be initiated by the following:

Electrical Drawings - Diagrams

The existence of up to date "as built" electrical drawings and diagrams is required by legislation so that all the circuits of an installation and the corresponding protection and control devices are clearly identifiable, ensuring reliability and safety of operations.

Employee’s safety and especially of those involved in the repair and/or preventive maintenance activities, requires the existence of updated electrical drawings, in order to ensure equipment is properly isolated, as well as the avoidance of any unintended activation or start-up.

Inspections of Electrical Installations - Declaration of Licensed Electrician (YDE)

According to Greek legislation and in order to ensure and maintain the reliability and safety of Electrical Installations, initial and periodical inspections shall be conducted. The inspections must be carried out taking into consideration the technical requirements of legislation of the period that the electrical installation or parts of it were constructed and energized, as well as other safety related requirements.

Infrared Thermography

Thermography is a well-established and safe technique of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) for electromechanical equipment, electrical panels and installations.

It is a modern diagnostic method for preventing and detecting faults of mechanical and electrical equipment.

It is carried out by measuring the emitted thermal radiation with certified and calibrated equipment of advanced technology (thermal camera), which gives the possibility to thermally visualize the state of the facilities, in terms of the above-mentioned malfunctions.

PAT Testing

Importance and purpose of PAT Testing:

PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) is related with inspections applied on portable electrical devices and equipment, to ensure that they are safe for use.

The Industrial Safety Department of Ergonomia, has the required know-how and equipment to conduct inspections on portable electrical appliances, providing reliable PAT Testing services at the client’s premises, by a team of experienced and qualified engineers.
