Burns
Heat burn

Symptoms:
- Skin redness
- Pain
- Blisters
- Other changes on the skin's surface or even deeper down
Fist aid:
- Immediately commence cooling the burn in cool or cold (not freezing) water for at least 20 min.
- Loosely cover the burn with a dry sterile dressing or use cling wrap.

Radiation burn

First aid:
- Immediately commence cooling the burn in cool or cold (not freezing) water for at least 20 min
- Loosely cover the burn with a dry sterile dressing or use cling wrap

Chemical burn

First aid:
- Avoid contact with any chemical by using appropriate PPE e.g. gloves.
- Remove the person to a safe area if safe to do so and contaminated clothing and jewellery as soon as practical.
- Brush powdered chemicals from the skin before rinsing.
- Immediately flush the area directly with running water for at least 20 min, until the stinging stops (if it is an eye, avoid spreading the chemical to the unaffected eye).
- Refer to Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for specific treatment or to the product label.
- Call the Poisons Information Centre for further advice.
- Seek immediate medical care.
