Anaphylaxis/Allergic shock

Symptoms:

  • Facial swelling
  • Sensation of throat closing & difficulty breathing
  • Rash
  • Vomiting or Diarrhea
  • Low Blood Pressure
  • Pallor
  • Dizziness
  • Changes in level of consciousness

First aid:

  • If a person experiences anaphylaxis and an epinephrine autoinjector is available, the person should self-administer the autoinjector
  • Assist a person to use their autoinjector if assistance is required
  • Call the emergency number immediately 112/166
  • Ensure that the person remains in a seated or lying position
  • If a person with anaphylaxis does not respond to the initial dose of epinephrine and arrival of EMS will exceed 5 to 10 minutes, a repeat dose may be considered
